Kylie Turns 18: Ranking our Best Kylie Jenner Shoots
Few people can claim to have accomplished so much before turning 18. Already a fashionista, a TV star, a Balmain model and the #1 most popular person on Snapchat, Kylie Jenner clearly has plenty of momentum heading into adulthood.
The SlickforceStudio team is proud to have played a small part in Kylie’s meteoric rise, as she did her very first professional shoot right here at our studio five years ago. Since then, the younger half of Jenneration K has returned in front of our cameras many times to further grow her brand.
Last month, we asked you to rank our best Kylie Jenner shoots. You voted, and now here are the Top 5. To see the full list (voting remains open), click here.
Click on the titles for more info, full galleries, and behind-the-scenes of the shoots. And if you’re still itching for more Kylie after that, you can view every shoot we’ve ever done together right here.
Wishing Ms. Jenner a very happy 18th birthday and continued success. Drumroll please.
5. Kendall & Kylie’s First Team Up at SlickforceStudio

WMB 3D: Kendall & Kylie Jenner at Ultimate Graveyard
In Issue 3 of WMB 3D: World’s Most Beautiful, I brought two of my favorite rising starlets out to Ultimate Graveyard for an apocalyptic shoot-to-remember. Kendall and Kylie Jenner’s fashion feature was styled by the insanely talented Monica Rose, who found the perfect pieces to complement the decaying location.
Here is a backstage look at the making of this shoot, with wonderful production images by photographer Joyce Park. WMB 3D #3 is available now for iPhone, iPad, and on Google Play. And check out the video below for a closer look at the shoot!

The 2012 Kardashian Khristmas Card Rings in the New Year in Style
Once again, the Kardashian/Jenner/Odom/Disick family generates record buzz with their annual Christmas card. This year, the card was photographed in Miami at the amazing Temple House. Kim wanted a bright and happy all-white theme for this year’s holiday card, in stark contrast to the dramatic images we shot in previous years. Lots more behind-the-scenes on the way.
Which is your favorite? (Go behind-the-scenes on 2010 and 2011 cards.)
Kendall & Kylie Jenner fashion feature for OK! Magazine
Check out this week’s OK! Magazine for a fun fashion feature starring two of my favorite ladies, Kendall & Kylie Jenner. Having shot both of their first professional shoots in the past, I am especially proud watching them evolve into such fun people and wonderful models. The shoot was styled by the one-and-only Monica Rose, with amazing glam by two of my favorite artists, Mario Dedivanovic and Rob Scheppy.

WMB 3D Issue 2 Fashion Feature: Warehouse Wonderland
WMB 3D‘s recent fashion feature has readers and artists buzzing, so I thought it appropriate to devote the first Issue 2 post to Warehouse Wonderland.Â
I’ve always found amazing locations to be fantastic sources of inspiration. When I stumbled upon this forgotten machine shop in downtown Los Angeles, it was love at first sight. The exposed framework, massive steel crane hooks, and natural sunlight would create perfect contrast for a fashion-forward piece.Â
I re-teamed with brilliant stylist Monica Rose, who did an amazing job of helping me bring our latest apocalyptic vision to life. I also had the pleasure of working with two of my favorite artists: makeup artist Gaby Ramos and hair stylist Gio Campora, who delivered electrifying flair within each frame.Â
Model Aryn Livingston handled the complex shoot like a champ, never complaining as we had her climb ladders, lie on cold metal, or precariously walk an elevated girder (in heels!)
The unique layout of the warehouse also created several unique shooting situations, including multi-level landing camera setups. For many shots, we redirected tiny pools of sunlight using multiple mirrors to get the sun to frame Aryn correctly.Â
Go behind-the-scenes of WMB 3D‘s Warehouse Wonderland shoot thanks to these amazing stills and video from photographer Joyce Park and director David Rivera.Â

WMB 3D: “Nuclear Summer” Fashion Shoot
For the WMB 3D premiere issue fashion feature, we enlisted the help of celebrity fashion stylist Monica Rose and brought out Swedish fashion-model Therese Fischer for an apocalyptic shoot at an abandoned mining town. The first 3 images are from the 2D version of WMB, and the last image (Therese standing) is in 3D. This shoot has been getting a ton of circulation in the fashion world so I decided it deserved it’s own blog post.
Check out these great behind-the-scenes pics and video, and see the full fashion feature, Nuclear Summer, in Issue 1 of WMB 3D!

Kendall & Kylie Jenner’s Fashion Team up at SlickforceStudio
I recently photographed rising starlets Kendall and Kylie Jenner at SlickforceStudio. Favorite stylist Monica Rose joined us to create some high-fashion imagery. You may have seen a sneak peek when the girls posted teasers on their blog.
I couldn’t have been more impressed with these two, given that they are only 15 (Kendall) and 14 (Kylie) years old. Something tells me they have a very bright future.
Check out some of the final images as well as behind-the-scenes from the shoot!

Teaming up with Kim Kardashian & Kris Jenner for Skechers Shape-Ups
Earlier this year, I received a call from the Skechers ad department to photograph Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner for their new international Shape-Ups campaign. Having been a Skechers fan for many years, I was really excited about the shoot, and also for the chance to reunite with two of my favorite ladies and their incredible glam squad.
The shoot took place at 5th & Sunset Studios in West Los Angeles, a fantastic facility with multiple sound stages and a virtually unlimited grip & lighting selectionâa dream come true for a lighting nerd like me. Monica Rose styled the wardrobe, Joyce Bonelli delivered flawless make-up, and Clyde Haygood brought amazing hair styling as always.
Kim and Kris hit yet another one out of the park with this shoot, taking great direction and bringing their own personalities to the campaign. My brilliant SlickforceStudio team made me proud with stellar support that day. Our intern, Terekah, complimented Kim on her shoes, and was pleasantly surprised a few days later when she arrived to the studio to find her very own pair of Shape-Upsâa gift from the lovely Miss Kardashian herself.
It’s been a lot of fun watching the reach of this campaign. So far, I’ve seen billboards in several cities, multi-story retail displays, and perhaps the most fun: the ad ran in TSA security bins in nearly every airport in the country. Now that’s getting your brand out there.

The kamera goes krazy for Kylie.
Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph the youngest of the Jenner/Kardashian clan, Kylie Jenner. The shoot was at SlickforceStudio in LA. Kylie was every bit as professional as her sister Kendall, but with a wonderful and unique look and attitude all her own. Being Kylie’s first fashion shoot ever, this was an exciting experience for everyone involved. It’s always fascinating to witness someone’s initial discovery of their hidden talents. You can really see how much fun she’s having in the shots. She did amazingly well, and she has some of the best eyes I have ever shot!
Then last week, when I shot the Jenner/Kardashian family Christmas card, I saw Kris’ beautifully redesigned house, with a “Wall of Fame” featuring professional modeling pics of her daughters Kourtney, Kim, KhloĂŠ, and Kendall. I was proud to recognize many of the images as my own, but there was also a space left for Kylie, which will come from this set and complete the wall.
Special thanks to the super glam-squad formed by genius stylist Monica Rose, my longtime star make-up artist Gaby Ramos, and hair stylist Alon Shalom for an amazing job. These beautiful behind-the-scenes pics were taken by SlickforceStudio assistant Derek Eskridge.
An inside look at the world’s hottest family in Kardashian Konfidential!
In March 2010, the Kardashian sisters called and told me about a new book they had coming out, called Kardashian Konfidential. They asked if I’d be interested in shooting new images for the cover, to which I naturally said yes. After speaking with the publisher, however, it was clear that they needed an even greater range of images to use throughout the book, and so we planned this day at the studio.
The Kardashian/Jenner family had plenty of images of the girls growing up, etc., but what they needed now were shots of the modern-day Kardashians, as the world currently knows them. So we devised a shoot that was three layers deepâsimilar to the dream levels in Inception. First we set up our usual studio shooting area to capture staged and posed images for the cover and the inside of the book. Then, two of of my assistants captured production shots of the making of the shoot, and in between takes I would grab one of their cameras and follow the sisters to hair and make-up, where they would tease each other and play while prepping for the next shot. Finally, there were publicity crews from E! that captured press footage of my crew shooting behind-the-scenes of my actual shoot with Kim, Kourtney, and KhloĂŠ, that they could use to promote the book. It was a very fun day, but one where we didn’t stop shooting in some form from start to finish.
The book is available everywhere on November 23rd. I received my advanced copy a few weeks ago, and I’m thrilled with the final product. Kardashian Konfidential is a quality coffee-table book, with exceptional layout and printing, all very professionally done. Though the cover is a bit pink for my taste, I also realize that I’m not the target teenage female demographic. I’m sure this book will fly off the shelves. Brilliant work by the team at St. Martin’s Press for a fantastic publication!
